Roof Damage Repair
Start with the damage, then the cause. A stain on a ceiling and a lifted seam on the roof are two ends of the same story. In Wichita Falls, TX roofs take heat, hail and tornado-season wind, and each leaves a different mark. Learn the marks and the repair gets simpler.

More About Roof Damage Repair
Weather damage
A hail bruise rarely shows from where you stand, so we press, probe and mark it. Wind damage starts at edges and flashings. Tornado damage is rarer and more severe, with debris impact and uplift. The April 1979 tornado went through the south and east of the city, and baseball-size hail reached Iowa Park and Burkburnett in April 1991. Both are history, not proof for any roof today.
Slow damage
Heat and UV damage comes from about 28 days of 100 degrees in a typical year. Ponding water leaves a ponding line after rain. Seam failure and flashing failure grow from small gaps. Each of these builds slowly, and each is easier to fix early than after water has reached the insulation.
Cuts and fire
A membrane puncture often comes from other trades on the roof. Fire damage needs a deck and insulation check, not only a patch.
The order of repair
Step one is to stop the water. Step two is to find the edge of the wet area with moisture readings. Step three is to repair inside that boundary. One clean rule: never patch over wet insulation. Photos at every step let an owner or an adjuster follow what was done and why, and a dry test area shows the repair held before the crew leaves.
What goes in the damage record
Dated photos of each area, a roof plan with numbers, moisture readings across the suspect zone and a written line for each condition: cause, extent and fix. If hail is suspected, we note the pattern of bruises and the damage to soft metals such as vents. If wind is suspected, we note which edges and flashings moved. If neither storm explains it, we say so and describe the wear that does. What it means for you: the money goes to the real problem.
After the 1991 hail in Iowa Park and Burkburnett, and the 1982 hail in Electra, the record shows that damage can be local and uneven. A neighbor's roof tells you little about yours; only a walk does.
Commercial Roofing Questions
Does hail always mean replacement?
No. The pattern and extent of bruising and the membrane type decide how much needs work.
How soon after a storm should we call?
Right after, while the evidence is fresh and before the next rain.
Can an old patch cause a new leak?
Yes. Patches placed over wet insulation or on a dirty surface often fail at the edges.
Who documents damage for an insurer?
We provide dated photos, moisture readings and a scope the adjuster can follow.
Call after the storm or when you see the stain
Send photos and the building use. We will walk the roof in order and tell you what the damage is.
